TODAY brings to an end the first South African master class in advanced liver keyhole surgery for 22 of the country’s top liver surgeons.
A surgical team from the University of Dundee in Scotland have been leading the three-day workshop in Cape Town at which the surgeons have been watching and taking part in procedures using the latest tools and optics.
The workshop has been convened by Jake Krige, head of liver surgery at the department of surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital and UCT Medical Centre, which is the largest referral centre in the country for liver procedures.
