Panther Cubs breeze by South Charleston

B.J. Ray and Brandon Halstead each netted 13 points to leadDuPontto a 75-35 home win over South Charleston in boys junior highbasketball.

DuPont outscored the Cubs 36-12 in Monday's first half en routetothe easy win.

Chad Duernberger and Jesse Wentz each added 10 points for thePanther Cubs (3-0).For SC (1-1), Adam Browning led the way with 17 points, followedby Mike Cadle with six.In other boys junior high/middle school action on Monday:- John Adams 52, Herbert Hoover 39 - Brett Holland scored 11points to lead the Falcons (2-1) to the home win.Steve Smith added 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while RarrenBerry and David Shuman each scored nine points for JA.For Hoover, Justin Young scored 12 points, while Chris Stricklandadded 11.- McKinley 36, Horace Mann 30 - McKinley jumped to a 12-2 leadafter one quarter and held on for the road win.Gavin Herscher led McKinley with 19 points, followed by KevinStephenson with 7. For Horace Mann (0-3), Jonathan Young and GavinEdwards scored eight each.- Sherman 49, Guyan Valley 35 - The Tide improved to 6-0 with thehome win.J.D. Elswick led Sherman with 12 points, followed by Cody Smithwith 10. For Guyan Valley, Gary Nay netted 15 points.- Hayes 49, Nitro 44 - The Hornets outscored Nitro 13-6 in thefourth quarter to overcome a 2-point deficit.For Hayes, Andrew Colby scored 20 points, including five 3-pointers, while Pat Jones added 17.
